FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa ID Oliver is a 2.5-year-old Tibetan Spaniel who came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue when his owner could no longer care for him. Her loss can be your gain! Oliver is a serious lover who would rather cuddle next to you on the couch than almost anything else. But he is not a pest. If you do not want to be cuddled, he'll quietly lay down at the other end of the sofa, preferably on a big pillow. He'd like to sleep with you too, but settles at the foot of the bed out of the way. He will sleep all night, not demanding to go out till later in the morning. This dog is house trained but does need to be let out on a regular basis; he ... (Read More)does not know how to use a pet door, and seems uninterested in learning but with some work we are sure he would figure it out He is crate trained and will go into his crate voluntarily if he wants to get away by himself. Oliver growls, shows his teeth, and has bitten at people when touched in places he does not approve of like his feet and under his tail. Oliver is polite about the behavior and does warn you before he bites at you. He has never broken the skin of anyone that we know of, but due to this behavior, he absolutely cannot go to a home with children present. When Oliver came to us his backend was so badly matted that he was left with urine and feces burns on his skin and he was in a lot of pain. Our best guess is that he had one or more very bad experience at a groomer and he became overly sensitive; some positive reward training and he can learn to trust again! Oliver is good with other dogs and very friendly with people so long as they pet him nicely and don't mess with his feet or try to cut his hair. LOL. He has not been cat tested, so don't know how he is with them or other small animals. Oliver is used to being allowed on the furniture. He does know 'sit', 'down', 'lay', and 'kennel', although he's not completely reliable responding to those commands. He does know his name and will come when called in the yard. We've no idea if that works outside in the big wide world with all its distractions. He is treat motivated, but has not been trained to take the treats gently so care must be taken when giving them to him. Oliver has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped There is a $250 adoption fee for Oliver to help off-set some of his medical costs. If you can offer Oliver a home where he can be loved for who he is and are willing to work on his positive reward training, fill out an application today!
